The Pursuit Of Creative Freedom
If you’ve landed here at the Pursuit Of Creative Freedom website, welcome! You don’t know who I am. The person on the other side of the screen. Typing these words with tears in her eyes and hope in her heart. I don’t know who is reading these words. I don’t know where you are reading this in the world, or even what your biggest fears and desires are. We are strangers connected through this crazy technological universe called the Internet. Yet I would bet if you’re reading these words, our struggles are not that unalike.
Perhaps there’s a chance that you, too, are tired. Tired of all the small talk, of being asked the same surface-level questions by others only so they can categorize you and put you into a tidy little box. They file you away in a neat little folder in their minds so they feel like they know you. But dare to challenge their perception of who they think you are, and they suddenly think you’ve lost your mind.
Perhaps there’s a chance that you, too, have never quite fit the mold that society tries to shape us all into. You know the drill. Go to college. Get a degree. Get the best 9-to-5 job you can, (bonus points if they offer good benefits). Give fifty years of your life to someone else’s dream. Retire, if you’re lucky. Enjoy what you have left of your life in your “golden years”. Never question if this is the only way to live.Â
But I want you to think back to when you were a kid. Remember when people would ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up? You’d probably answer, “a doctor”, “a lawyer”, “an athlete”, or “the president” with a twinkle in your eye. Later you’d go to school and sit in classrooms littered with ‘inspirational’ posters that read, “You can be anything!” and “Shoot for the stars!“. And you believed you really could be anything you wanted to be because life hadn’t told you otherwise yet.
But somewhere along the way, we become jaded by life. We’re laughed at if we dare to stray from the path. Teased if we have a dream that seems ‘too ambitious’. Scolded for being individualistic. Pressured into fearing what others will think of us. We’re made to believe being seen as a failure is far worse than ever trying to pursue a dream. So we settle for safety. We choose the familiar. The same that our parents had. Then we laugh at ourselves for ever having a ‘pipe dream’ in the first place. Who do we think we are, right?Â
If you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong. If you’ve ever felt like an outcast. Like you’re up against the world. If you refuse to conform or to accept what society tries to tell you to be. If you refuse to stay silent and sit pretty idly letting your life go by and never asking why…Well, my friend, you are not alone.
Welcome to the Pursuit Of Creative Freedom – a place for kindred free spirits who dare to dream even when life tries to kill the very ideas that make us want to live. We are the ones who never lost that childish gleam in our eyes. We are the outcasts. The ones society deems ‘weird’. But maybe we’re the sane ones, if only a bit misunderstood. We are the daydream believers, artists, visionaries, and idealists.
We are the ones who dare to dream. Â
So often, we get caught up in the day-to-day dealings of life. We’re all just trying to make it. And if you’re someone who’s struggling just to stay afloat mentally, financially, or even physically (I’ve been all of these at different points), it can be so hard just to get out of that rut, but I promise you you can do it. I’ve worked as an actress, a writer, and an entrepreneur. And I’m here to tell you without a doubt… If you have a dream… IT. CAN. BE. DONE.
Half the battle of following your dreams is just letting go of what is ‘normal’, and what people think of you, and what your life ‘should’ look like. Of course, I don’t want to say working a 9-to-5 job is easy, by any means. But it’s safe. It can be comfortable. But being a dreamer, a self-starter, is hard. There’s no roadmap or blueprint for where to go. Oftentimes, people won’t understand. We may lose friends along the way. And we will most certainly run into more than a few roadblocks. But life is too short to live for anyone else but ourselves. And if you have even a tiny dream, a sliver of hope, tucked away anywhere in your heart. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself to pursue it? Besides, we get one chance. ONE. There are no do-overs.Â
Now is the time to start living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
Pursuit Of Creative Freedom is about inspiring you to take a chance on your dreams. Encouraging you to live your life to the fullest. Educating you in personal growth and helping you to develop the necessary skills you need to turn your passion into a paycheck. I can’t promise it will be easy. But the risk of not knowing what could’ve been is so much greater. It’s finally time to take control over your life and start living for YOU. And we’re in this together, one step at a time.
It’s time to begin your own Pursuit Of Creative Freedom.
